These beautiful bookends are made by Jacob. He carves giraffes of all sizes and his bookends are some of his finest works. They are posed bending gently at the neck, ears back, as if to take a drink. The reticulated pattern of the Masai Giraffe, found widely in Kenya and Tanzania, is delicately presented with a long mane running down the back of the neck. The bases are intricately detailed with a depiction of natural East African foliage, and each animal stands tall next to a carved representation of a book, forming a hefty support for even the most unstable book collection. Finally, each finished carving is gently buffed until an almost waxy finish is achieved. Far closer to functional fine art than bookshelf trinket, this piece is of the highest quality in material and craftsmanship.

Each piece is hand-carved and therefore unique. Approximate size, each bookend: 9" tall by 3" wide by 7" deep. Set of 2.
